Charlie Blankenhorn Memorial Fund
As many of you know, our father, Charlie Blankenhorn has passed away recently, just a few days into the new year.
He has had many struggles between health issues and PTSD dating back to Vietnam. He was finally awarded disability from the VA after decades of denial. He has been on morphine for a decent number of years andoxygen for a few years as well. Over the last couple years, he was finally taken off of morphine and somehow, unbeknownst to his doctors, was able to barely have the need for his oxygen.
The last couple years have been the best of his life for quite a while. He was finally enjoying life again and socializing more. He even took some elderly out to bingo every week!
He had many plans this year, and many places to visit, including coming to see myself (Devon) in Tennessee and him and I were planning a trip to Germany this year to visit Castle Blankenhorn; a German National Historic sire built back in the year 1228. He also wanted to make a drive through the Swiss Alps. I still plan on making this trip in remembrance of him.
His passing was unexpected to all of us. We are trying to make everything work out, with everyone gathering from all across the country and planning a ceremony and memorial as well as how to deal with the estate.
As an expression of sympathy and any contributions to go towards memorial/funeral expenses, please help out if you can. Even the smallest amount can and will help. Thank you.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life/memorial service is scheduled for Saturday January 18, 2020 at 10:00 am at The Lake Funeral Home and Crematory, 101 6th Ave East, Polson, MT 59860.
