Goal: $ 4,500 to move Charley from slaughter to sanctuary
This beautiful young 4-H steer is highly trained, very social and well groomed for competitions.
But at a recent weigh in, Charley was too skinny to continue with 4-H.
And in the livestock world… that usually means the slaughterhouse — unless we can save him.
This… is Charley.
And he’s had a life better than most cows. Raised by hand, trained to be gentle, brushed and groomed for the county fair — a far cry from factory farming.
But when Charley didn’t reach the weight needed to compete… his path suddenly changed.
I named him Charley after the hurricane — because right now, he’s facing the biggest storm of his life.
$5,500 will save Charley from slaughter and move him to "Out of Farms Way" Sanctuary in DeLand, Florida — where he could live out his life peacefully on an educational farm teaching kids about sustainable farm living.
But time is running out.
We only have about one week to save Charley.
If you’ve ever wanted to save a cow… this is your chance.
Cows can live 15–20 years, and Charley deserves the opportunity to experience that life.
Every dollar raised will go toward:
• Purchasing Charley
• Transporting him to sanctuary
• Supporting the farm that will care for him.
I’ll also document Charley’s journey with photos and videos so everyone who helps save him can follow along as his new life begins.
Saving Charley wasn’t on my 2026 bingo card… but sometimes the right thing appears when we least expect it.
And right now, Charley needs a village.
Will you help give this young 4-H steer the second chance he deserves?
Charley — and my family — thank you.
