As this may come as a shock to most of you like it did us , Charles “Chucky” Robinson, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend was recently diagnosed with high grade Neuroendocrine Carcinoma Pancreatic cancer.
In September of 2019 Chuck went into the hospital due to severe stomach pain. What seem to be a routine diagnoses of pancreatitis revealed he had suffered a heart attack at some point recently and damaged the left side of his heart. This immediately became the focal point of getting him back to normal health. After a couple surgeries, a few stents and eventually the installation of an internal defibrillator , we thought we were out of the woods for the most part.
In late January, Chucky went back into the hospital due to stomach pain again. The doctors initially thought it to be gallbladder stones and the tests and scans started being ran. Much to our surprise a tumor was found on his pancreas which we recently found out to be cancerous. It has spread to his lymph nodes and it believed to be aggressive and fast acting.
We are humbly reaching out to all of our family and friends in seek of support with further appointments , specialist visits , conventional and unconventional treatment options , travel and lodging expenses to give him the best chance of fighting this rare disease. We are currently working with Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center in Iowa City, Iowa to get Chuck there as soon as possible.
This is one of the top treatment centers in the country for his specific type of Cancer. However , time is working against us as in most cancer diagnoses. Charles is scheduled to start his first round of Chemotherapy at Siteman Cancer Center in St. Louis, Mo on March 2nd, 2020.
Chuck has been out of work for quite some time due to his heart condition and now the uphill battle we face with this diagnosis
and is relying on the sole income of his wife Theresa. We as a family are trying everything we can to be supportive but sometimes it takes a village to make a difference. We ask for any donation possible as we are all aware how difficult times may be for not only
us, but each and everyone who may be reading this. If you are unable to donate please simply share this to bring awareness and
simply keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we prepare to face this tough battle head on.
Charles spent the majority of his life growing in Cahokia, Illinois. Throughout most of his life, Charles has been in a public servant, whether it be working with St. Clair County Sheriffs Dept, Cahokia Police Dept, East Carondelet Police Dept., Cahokia Code Enforcement or Security at the Casino Queen, he has always enjoyed and took pride in serving the public.
We will also be throwing a Trivia Night Fundraiser on March 28th in East Carondelet, Il as well. More details will available soon.
Sincerely,
The Robinsons
