**I attended 15 schools beore 6th grade. Spelling was not my top prioity growing up. I was a little more worried about people staring at the "new guy"**
Im Charles. I have a dream. I've had many dreams, but this is the dream to trump all other dreams. It's a dream because it will not be easy to fufill. It will not happen over night. It will not happen tomorrow, next week,or maybe even next year for that matter, but I believe in my heart it is possible. My dream is so simple it makes it makes it almost impossible to achieve, which makes my drive increase times ten! My dream is to make the world a more beautiful place one person at a time.
Almost a year to the day (4-1-15) I made a choice that would change my entire life. I woke up the morning of April 1st, 2014 feeling really bad for myself. I closed down the bar that I work at the night before and had some very negative people do some really pathetic things at the end of the night. Being a very gay man in Bismarck North Dakota, I'll spare you the ugly hurtful details of the conversation, but I'm confident that you can use your own imagination. I knew in my heart I had to make some changes if I ever wanted to start to feel like a real person again. I made two very important choices that morning, 1. I will not be a server/bartender when Im 40. 2. I would have some sort of higher level of sucess then what I was experinceing that day by the time I turned 30 (Mid September.)
I googled local hair colleges and came across The Paul Mitchel school. I called my sister and asked her, if I set up a tour of the school if she would be willing to come in and check it out with me. April 3rd, 2014 I toured the JZ Trend Academy. (A Paul Mitchell Partner School) I knew from that day this is what I watned to do with the rest of my life. Luckly my sister agreed to enroll also! It was very important to me to try to help her find a path to follow also! I'm so greatful she chose to walk this one with me.
After completing my core classes and moving on to the clinic floor, I turned a client around (after a cut, color, and a killer blow out.) What she said to me that day will stay with me for the rest of my life! She looked at me and said "I haven't felt this beautiful in to many years." That sparked my though, which spiraled into a moto of sorts: "I want to make the world a more beautiful place on head of hair at a time, and I have no intention of being a good stylist, but rather ever intention of being the best."
The commitment and passion I have found in the last 6 months at JZ Trend Academy have brought me to this key board to ask for all of your help! Every year the Paul Mithcell team and schools give back MILLIONS to several charities. They run a large contest for the future professionals to be a part of the celebration to honor those who have founded the various charities. I just found out today there are 31 tickets availble for future professionals like myself to take advantage of. My goal is to raise $3,000.00 by the end of this month so I too would be apart in this once in a life time oppertunity.
I want to be involved in this particular trip for several different reasons. First, I want it for the experince. It would mean the world to me to be in the same room with all of my personal mentors. (Within talking distance from me.) It could do wonders for my career. Second, I was raked #1 in the adaptive class for 7 weeks in a row, and last week I was rated #1 in the school. Also this week I was giving the honor of being Future Professional of the month. This was such an honor because it was chose by the staff of JZ Trend Academy! Im also the lead volenteer for JZ's largest FUNraiser event this year. Im personally responsible to over see the whole project from beging to end. This year we (the student body) chose to do a prom themed high fashion runway show, and I'm so excited to be get to be involved!
I want to personally thank eah and every peron who took time out of thier day to read my story! If you could possibly find it in your heart to donate even a few dollars to help me turn my dream into reality I would greatly appreciate it. I would also strongly encourage you to not look at it as handing money over but rather making a very smart business investment that would benifit way more people then just you, and I.
