My brother, Charles (Chazimoto) Wocell, experienced a significant event that will change him forever (as would anyone else).
Around 1:30 am EST, my wife woke me out of deep sleep to inform me that my brother died in a fire. She learned of this from a posting on Facebook and proceeded to validate the information with a news article from the area.
Just coming out of deep sleep, I couldn't comprehend or understand what was just told to me. I had to get confirmation from official sources to see if this was true. I hurriedly called the Alaska State Police - Palmer barracks, and asked for some sort of confirmation that my brother was alive. The dispatcher took my information down so that a trooper could call me back. It was the longest 15 to 20 mins I've ever experienced.
During this time, I reached out to some of my cousins who were awake and informed them of what I knew and to prepare them of what was about to be learned.
The trooper called me back and asked a number of questions to validate my relationship with Chaz. Once convinced of who I am, he informed me that he was alive and was transported to a local medical center for treatment.
With a huge sigh of relief, I called the medical center and was debriefed of Chaz's medical condition and what happened. Still unclear who perished in the house.
It wasn't until the next day that I learned that it was his fiance Ana that perished in the house. He got burned in the process of trying to save her. The house is a total loss.
My brother lost everything he had in this fire. There was no insurance on the house. Imagine what would you do.
I'm starting this campaign to raise funds that are to be used for rebuilding his home, to pay for medical bills and acquire basic nescessity items like clothes and food.
We can't undo what happened, but we can certainly show Chaz that we are here for him as he has been for us time and time again.
Love you Bro
