Heaven has gained a new angel. It breaks my heart to announce my dad Charles McKnight has passed away. As an adult I learned my dad was concerned about whether he worked too much when we were kids and if he was around enough. If my dad was here today, I would remind him about all the fun memories I have of him like when my dad would pretend the grocery store cart was a racecar and race through the parking lot with us in the cart or throwing us up in the air giving us the feeling that we were flying through the sky. I would remind him of how dedicated he was to supporting his kids by actively participating in my brothers football games, attending my violin concerts, and encouraging all of us to follow our passion. I would remind my dad that he managed to supervise four energetic children which was no easy task because we were quite mischievous. My dad also helped a lot of other children during his life through basketball and teaching. If I could talk to my dad today, I’d thank him for everything he has done for me and my brothers. He raised us but he also cared for us emotionally and spiritually. I was able to tell my dad anything: the good, the bad, and the ugly. Even during my most difficult moments when I wanted to give up on myself, my dad never gave up on me. He was always there for me and my siblings no matter how many things went wrong in our lives. I am so thankful for all the amazing memories I have of my dad from funny moments to the supportive moments, the sad moments, and the proud moments. While I am devastated my time with my dad on earth has come to an end, I take comfort in knowing I will one day be able to hug my dad again in heaven.
