On September 7, 2025, we said goodbye to Charles “Karl” Elder — a father, a husband, a son, a friend, a brother, and a soul who filled every adventure with humor, curiosity, and heart. Karl was just 45, but he packed more into those years than most could in a lifetime.

Karl was a wizard in more ways than one — a brilliant data analyst, a Dungeons & Dragons storyteller, and a Magic: The Gathering strategist. He loved exploring the outdoors, tearing down off-road trails, and diving into new games and challenges with the same spark of joy and boundless curiosity that defined his life.

If you knew Karl, you knew laughter. You knew wit. You knew someone who could make even the most complicated code — or the most tangled campaign — seem like an adventure worth taking. His presence made rooms brighter, trails more exciting, and game nights unforgettable.

In keeping with Karl’s wishes, there will be no formal memorial service. He never wanted to be the center of attention — though he so often was, without even trying. Instead, we invite you to celebrate him by sharing your favorite stories, your laughter, and your memories of the adventures you had together.

As we navigate this sudden loss, we’re asking for help covering memorial expenses and related costs. In lieu of flowers or gifts, contributions of any amount are deeply appreciated.
