Charles Howes end of life care

Hi, my name is Jade Howes and I am fundraising for my dad, Charlie Howes.

Our family needs your help. Cancer is a monster and has disrupted our lives. Our father, husband, and best friend is at the end stage of his cancer battle at the young age of 44, but we as a family have an obstacle beyond just losing our patriarch. To get him out of the hospital so he can pass at home peacefully with his family around him, we need to be able to pay for a full time nurse but we have been left destitute because about the time this third tumor was found Charlie was unable to work, Sidney lost her job and Charlie was unable to get life insurance because of the prior 2 tumors that he fought valiantly.

Charlie was terminated over the summer after his disability benefits at work ran out and Sidney lost her job prior to that happening, but coincided with Charlie’s support needs elevating. The tumor and treatments have effectively mentally disabled him. He can’t walk, and his cognitive function for anything else is limited. No care home will take Charlie because he has high cognitive support needs that were brought on by the brain surgeries and radiation to try to treat the cancer. It takes multiple people to meet his daily needs and while he is still in the hospital, the bills keep mounting and he will not be released until a full time nursing service is available.

His quality of life will never get better, with one exception. If you can help send him home to be with his family, his wife and five kids, to feel their love in his final days. The expenses of fighting cancer and taking care of such an extraordinary man who loves his family with all of his heart does not come cheap in the modern medical system that is America today.
