Chuck started feeling ill on Wednesday September 8th which was also his son's 11th Birthday. He went to get a CoVid test Thursday and progressively got worse. Saturday the 11th, he received a positive CoVid test and his wife, Ronni, contacted the Doctor's office about his state and was told to take him straight to the Emergency Room. Per Chuck's request, Ronni took him McCullough-Hyde and while there he was refused a Chest X-Ray and was sent home after given two bags of fluids and was told to see his Primary Care Physician for a follow up in two days.
Come Monday, Chuck was getting worse, they contacted his PCP and they were told to come in. When they arrived at the doctor's office, his oxygen level was 67% and they immediately admitted him to the Eaton ER. From there he was transferred to Kettering Hospital where he was placed in ICU and was almost placed on a vent but fought that. He was put on continuous high flow oxygen and was diagnosed with CoVid Pneumonia. This pneumonia has caused pneumothorax (holes) in each of his lungs. He now has two chest tubes and the doctor has stated that if he has to be put on a ventilator, it may do more damage.
All while this is happening with him, his wife is trying to care for their 11 year old son Owen, who has medical issues of his own, keep things running smoothly for Owen, take care of their home and running to and from the Hospital.
Chuck is the sole provider for this family and with him not being able to work, it has put severe financial strain on them with all the mounting medical bills. He has been in the hospital since September 13th and will continue to be given steroids, anti-inflammatory medication, heated high flow oxygen, a bipap mask and possibly a ventilator down the road. Owen got to see him for this first time today (which we hope helped calm Chuck down a bit as he has not been separated from his son since he was born, other than work). Much THANKS to the wonderful Nurse who stuck her neck out to get Owen in. They got to hold hands but both were gloved up. This is a lot for an eleven year old to take in but we have been doing whatever we can to keep Owen's spirits up. Seeing his Dad today helped a lot.
Any donations to help this family out would be used to pay for the surmounting medical bills for Chuck and help keep his family in their home, help with utilities and so that his son will continue to have internet for his schooling. With Owen's medical issues, he is home-schooled and has medical bills and prescription medication that is needed as well. It will also help Ronni out by being able to continue to run back and forth to the hospital as she is not able stay overnight.
Chuck, Ronni and Owen would like to thank you ahead of time and ask for continued prayers for their family.
