After surviving a massive stroke, my administrative assistant and sweet friend, Charlene Routzahan, is on her way to recovery. Although she has been blessed with awareness of her surroundings, memory, and the ability to move the right side of her body, her recovery process will be somewhat challenging both physically and financially.
After receiving such an outpouring of love through friends, family, and strangers who want to help and be a part of her recovery process, we created this fundraising page to keep you updated on her progress.
For those of you who don’t know the details of Charlene’s situation, let me provide a little background. On May 29, 2017, Charlene started experiencing pain and was admitted to the hospital to have emergency gallbladder surgery. On May 30, 2017, she suffered a stroke leaving her with paralyses on the left side of her body. After treatment, she was placed in the Halifax Hospital ICU until June 18, 2017 when she was moved to the rehab floor to continue the process of regaining her strength and healing from the effects of the stroke.
The process of recovering from a stroke and the transition to a wheelchair can be difficult; however, Charlene is full of positivity and determination as she begins this journey. It means the world to her to have such a strong network of support and prayers to cheer her on through her recovery.
All the money raised through this campaign will go directly towards Charlene’s medical expenses and covering the cost of making her home wheelchair accessible, so that the transition is as seamless as possible.
