Charlene Chambers Financial Needs

charlene is a single mother of 2 children, aged 17 & 18 and a provider for her one year old grandson. she has been hospitalized at IU methodist hospital for going on a week, and has a long recovery ahead of her. she was diagnosed with Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension which is increased pressure in the brain caused for unknown reasons. this pressure has pushed on her optic nerve and caused damage that has left her with chronic migraines, double vision/ blurred vision. doctors performed a spinal tap and the results showed her pressure reading at 60 (when it should be 5-15). they decided monday night to take her into surgery and place a shunt to drain the cerebral spinal fluid into her stomach to help alleviate the pressure. doctors said this is the highest pressure doctors have seen and her neurosurgeon said she she’s the worst case he’s seen in his career, and isn’t confident the shunt they placed will do enough to relive her symptoms. they are keeping a close eye on her but think they will have to place stents in her jugular vein in order to further relieve the cranial pressure and hopefully reverse her symptoms. she also has been diagnosed with diabetes, and some unknown blood disorder that they are waiting for test results to come back in. her hemoglobin count has been high, so they are treating it with therapeutic phlebotomy in the mean time. doctors are unsure of a possible discharge date, but expect she will be out of work for months. in order to help with some of her financial burden i’ve made this to raise money for her since she will be out of work and without income to keep her utilities on, and make her car payment and such. anything helps, and even if you can’t donate, sharing this post will help! thoughts and prayers are very much needed & appreciated!!
