Hello family and friends,

I hope you all are well and starting the new year off on a good foot. We are reaching out to you all via gofundme to share some recent news our family has received and, with your help, use this platform to build the foundation of love and support that we will need to conquer this next battle.

Many of you know my mother. Whether she is your hair stylist, realtor, family,  friend, or any of the other various roles she plays in so many of our lives; if you know her, you know that she is truly a beautiful person inside and out. Unfortunately, cancer does not discriminate. 

After finding a small lump in her right breast during a routine mammogram, my mother was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. IDC is a form of breast cancer that starts in the cells that line a milk duct in the breast. From there, the cancer breaks through the wall of the duct, and grows into nearby breast tissue. At that point it has the potential to spread (metastasize) to other parts of the body through the lymph system and bloodstream.

 While cancer is never good news, we are extremely blessed and grateful to have caught this early. Ladies!! Please make sure you are doing regular self examinations and keeping up with all of your annual appointments. One appointment could make the difference between a good prognosis and a death sentence. YOU are in charge of your health. 

With that being said, my mother will be undergoing a partial mastectomy and radiation in the coming weeks/months to treat her cancer. As a consequence, she will need to take time off from work to heal. As many of you know, my mom is a business owner, which unfortunately means she doesn't have the luxury of being paid during this time off. I don't think anyone is ever really prepared for this type of news, but for my mother, a woman who works so hard and takes care of so many, I know the idea of being unable to work for so long is unsettling. Financial obligations are the last thing we want her to be worried about during this fight. For once, we want the woman who puts everyone first to simply take care of herself. 

Family and friends, if you are able, we are humbly asking you to participate in this campaign to give a little something back to the woman who is ALWAYS giving. The goal is $3000, however, WHATEVER you are willing to give is a blessing. 

For those who are not able, we are also asking for prayers and well-wishes. Unfortunately, many of us know all too well the mental, physical, and spiritual toll cancer can have on a person/family. Any and all forms of support are a blessing and definitely welcome. Thank you in advance for WHATEVER it is that you are able to offer.
