Help support charity on behalf of Yahya (Sadaqah Jariyah)
Donation protected
On behalf of the family, we're raising funds to establish a life-long charity for our dearest brother Yahya. This is the best and most important thing you can do to support our family and Yahya's memory.
Our brother returned to his lord earlier this week, due to a reprehensible and reckless act of violence which injured six others. He passed in the hands of his mother, sister, and brother - alhamdullillah. He was dearly loved by many, and was known to open up his heart to anyone who needed it. Yahya was deeply committed to his community, particularly the youth and ensuring they felt enabled with requisite programming and valued with a strong support system. He gave, both his time and money, with ease and embodied the principle of charity in Islam, as our Prophet (pbuh) said "Charity does not decrease wealth". Yahya leaves behind a family, who can attribute much of their success to his support, and a great deal of people who've been touched by his kindness and love.
As a reflection, many people have already reached out to our family to begin donations on his behalf. Given the family is fortunate enough to not need any financial support regarding funeral costs, we want to enable friends/family/community to instead support Yahya through charity. In our faith, charity and prayers are the most meaningful actions we can take to support our loved ones who've passed away. The charity we establish will not only honour Yahya's wishes and principles, but accrue good deeds on his behalf.
The family is also planning to match any funds, up to the initial target. We're setting up this fund with the goal to raise 50,000 to support various initiatives including, but not limited to:
- Supporting orphaned children in Somalia
- Constructing and maintaining water wells abroad
- Mosque construction / renovation
- Food distribution abroad and in Canada
We will be sharing clear updates on how the funds were disbursed and the impact it will have on the respective communities.
With all our love,
Sakariya on behalf of the family
