Charity Skydive for Ian & cancer research

Donation protected
Hi, our names are Jess and Luis and we’re fundraising to help towards our stepdads mental health & cancer journey. Ian got diagnosed with colon cancer which has spread to his lymph nodes in August 2023. He’s undergone major abdominal surgery to remove a tumour in his colon which didn’t go as planned. He suffered complications such as a large amount of a blood loss (an artery was damaged during surgery) as well as damage to his bladder. He’s now been given a temporary stoma bag and has began chemotherapy. Depending on how his body reacts to the chemo, he’s due to have another surgery and is now obviously out of work for a long time. He used to be a super fit healthy man who went to the gym every day, ate healthy and always put us all first and so seeing him now so underweight and exhausted has been so awful. It’s been tough, seeing as he can’t do the things he used to love (gym, work, riding his motorbike). He’s had to sell his motorbike and give up the things he loves due to his health and money. He’s being paid only statutory sick pay which, given this day and age, is impossible to live on. After serving as a paramedic for London ambulance service for over 25 years as well as being apart of the London NHS HART team, he’s even attended events such as the london bombings and London Bridge terrorist attacks. We understand times are tough, but for everything that he’s given to the NHS and especially the people of london in all his years of service, we believe he’s owed more than just statutory sick pay.

Our mum Penny works so hard also, for both London Ambulance Service and Thames Valley Police but it’s exhausting for her with all the extra hours she’s doing to make amends meet and help our stepdad.

So to help, we’re doing a charity sky dive in aid of Ian and cancer research (The Fountain Centre at St Luke’s Cancer Centre). Funds will be shared out between Ian and his chemo centre - as above. We’d really appreciate any support and any donations no matter how small, it will make a big difference. Any kind words of support too, Ian would really appreciate.

We will be skydiving with the company Go Sky Dive, in Salisbury.

Thank you.
