Sadly, Fionn Dooley passed away on the 30th of January 2026, less that an hour before his 16th birthday, after bravely battling cancer.
Fionn’s passion in life was football. He was a huge Manchester United supporter and loved everything about the game. Football was a massive part of his life and he gave everything on the pitch for his team.
Over the last few months, Fionn had the chance to experience some incredible moments with his family. He got to watch Manchester United play, attend a Republic of Ireland match, and even travelled to the Bernabéu to see Real Madrid beat Monaco 6–1. One of the highlights was receiving a lovely message from Roy Keane, chatting about Manchester United and the Ireland match.
These special trips gave Fionn and his family precious time together and created memories that will last forever. They were organised by amazing charities who went above and beyond to make everything so special. The support they gave to Fionn and his family meant the world to them.
To say thank you, we want to raise money for the charities who helped Fionn over the last few months so they can continue the incredible work they do, helping other families create magical memories during the most difficult times.
Fionn started his football journey with Knocklyon United before moving to Parkvale FC and later returning to Knocklyon. He was a brilliant centre back who took no messing from the opposition and always had his teammates’ backs. He had a great reading of the game and always seemed to be in the right place at the right time for a perfectly timed slide tackle.
Even while going through treatment, Fionn continued to train twice a week and play matches on Sundays whenever he could. His determination, strength, and love for football inspired everyone around him.
Fionn is deeply missed at every training session and every match. He has left a huge hole in the team and in the hearts of everyone who knew him.
