Hello everyone,
For the month of September, we — two soldiers (LCpl Saroj & Sig Nikhil) from the Queen’s Gurkha Signals, currently serving in the Falkland Islands — are taking on a 30-day challenge to raise awareness and funds for two causes close to our hearts:
Falklands Conservation, a local charity dedicated to protecting this island’s unique wildlife and fragile environment, and the
Gurkha Memorial Museum in Pokhara, Nepal, which preserves the proud legacy and history of the Gurkha soldiers who have served with honour around the world.
From penguins to albatrosses, sea lions to tussac grass — the Falklands is home to some of the most remarkable and untouched ecosystems in the world. But even here, far from the noise of cities, nature still needs protection.
So, for 30 days straight, we’ll be:
• Covering distance (running, rowing, or tabbing) across the islands,
• Taking part in wildlife clean-ups and mini environmental actions,
• Sharing photos, stories, and fun facts about the amazing species and history we encounter,
• And inspiring as many people as possible to support these vital causes with a small donation.
This challenge is about more than just fitness — it’s about giving back to places that have shaped us: the wild and beautiful Falklands and the proud Gurkha heritage rooted in Nepal.
Though our deployment here lasts only three months, we want our time to count for more than just duty. Help us leave the Falklands with a cleaner coastline and stronger conservation efforts — and support the Gurkha Memorial Museum in keeping our history alive for future generations.
Whether you donate £1 or simply follow our journey, your support means the world.
Let’s make some noise from the edge of the world.
