Charging ahead for Chuck States

Our father, Chuck States, has been through a lot in his life. He had the first of his 7 abdominal surgeries in 1989. He is about to have his 8th in early August. While hoping that it was not necessary, it has become anything but. Since his last surgery in 2015, he has developed a 25-pound fatty tumor that is compressing his organs, causing him to herniate and putting him in danger if it is not removed.
If you have ever met my dad, you know that he has been a dad to many more kids throughout our lives than just Summer, Josh and myself. He does not know how not to care.
We are asking for your help to cover part of his medical and travel expenses for the upcoming surgery. This will also make it possible for our mother, Gloria to be by his side the entire time without any worry. They will be traveling to New York City to have a 7+ hour surgery to remove the tumor, place his organs properly, and to close him up securely so that he does not herniate again. Chuck and Gloria will need to remain in NYC for at least 2 weeks following the surgery.
The surgery is complex and Chuck will be under the care of a Urologist, a General Surgeon and a Plastic Surgeon to complete the repair. He was referred to these physicians in NYC by a family friend and they have graciously taken on his case. With dad’s medical history and the complexity of the surgery, he requires surgeons who are the best in their field and that is exactly what he is getting.
As you might imagine, this medical situation puts a rather large financial burden on our parents. They have always sacrificed for us and now it is time for us to help take care of them. This fundraiser has been established to ease that burden, so that our mother can focus on dad’s recovery. Thank you for your donating if you are able, and please keep mom & dad in your prayers.
