Guys, the house needs Chapter Room tables. Remember those big, huge tables we used for dinners, chapter meetings, DJ tables, etc? They've gone missing during the PIKE years. Luckily for us, we have our very own FURNITURE JONES to help. Rheuben Gibson, pledge class Fall '89, has offered to supply ALL the materials for free, along with a major discount on his labor. In his own words, here is what Rheuben is doing for the house:
"The tables would be made from white oak, and they’d be stained to match the Chapter Room in a tudor tone, and finished with a two part water based polyurethane commonly used on floors, and extremely durable to water and alcohol. I’d be comping the white oak, finish materials, and discounting my labor roughly 20%, and as a bonus, I’d like to hand scrape the tops (leaving some saw marks) and hand carve the Sigma Nu letters (and or gamma nu) into each top. And not described in the quote, for the two 6’ tables, I’d like to stamp in each of the names (in order from Gamma Nu #1 -) of all the prior Gamma Nus. It would be quite time consuming, but would serve as a lasting legacy, and a neat tradition for future Nu’s."
You guys were amazing on the last effort, please help where you can on this very cool project.
