The Chapleau Ski Club is calling on all members, businesses and the community at large to help us secure some much-needed funding quickly.
This community run and managed organization has been providing a safe and affordable outlet for our local youth, families and community members to enjoy the outdoors, make friends and learn to ski for generations. The Chapleau Ski Club has been in continuous operation since 1949 and is a 100% volunteer organized non-profit organization providing downhill and cross-country skiing to our community.
Our organization is funded by our members as well as the generous contributions from local community members, businesses, and fundraising events such as our annual ski-a-thon.
The money collected from memberships, donations, and events provides the minimum funding necessary for the operations of the club, insurance and operations, but does not provide adequate funding to cover larger capital expenses and emergency repairs.
The club is currently in a position where we do not have the necessary funds to pay for ongoing operation expenses and repairs. This past year some of the larger expenses that we’ve had to incur were the replacement of the tow-line, hill lighting, hydro meter, overhaul of the tow machinery and rebuild of tow control house. This is on-top of ever-increasing expenses such as insurance, hydro, and seasonal employee wages.
This past week we’ve now been hit with major expenses to repair our aging snow mobile as well as the need to replace the water pump. The ski club cannot operate without a clean water supply and reliable snowmobile. Without additional funding the Chapleau Ski Club’s future is in jeopardy and this valuable community asset may become another local landmark lost to history.
The proceeds raised through this campaign will go directly towards the purchase of a new snowmobile, and water pump. Any remaining proceeds from this campaign or donations above our goal will be deposited into an emergency expenses fund. All labour and installation costs are being donated by our selfless and relentless volunteers.
The funds raised through this campaign will allow our community ski club to remain in operation for future generations of skiers to come.
We understand that not everyone may be able to donate, however we kindly ask that you please spread the word of this campaign by sharing a link to this page or reach out to us for volunteering opportunities.
