Chap family house fire recovery

Hi, my name is Andrew Klein, I'm a friend of the Chap family (Shelly, Roatha and their two kids) and together with other friends and family, I'm started this fundraiser for them to help with expenses after a total loss of their house and cars due to fire.

What happened:
The Chaps' house in Arlington caught fire on the evening of August 14th. It spread fast and consumed much of the of the house. Shelly and both kids were trapped upstairs and were thankfully rescued by firefighters. All three spent time in the hospital ICU recovering, kids have now both been discharged but Shelly is still recovering as she suffered the most from smoke inhalation trying to protect her children. Roatha was not seriously hurt (he was downstairs as the fire started) and has been at the hospital with his family since they arrived.

What the money is for:

  • out-of-pocket medical bills
  • temporary housing costs
  • costs for other essentials not covered by insurance

Thank you for any support you can offer, know it will be put to good use, all money we raise here will be given directly to the Chaps to help get them back on their feet.

We all would also like to thank the Arlington Fire Department who rescued Shelly and the kids from the second story, certainly saving their lives.

Here's a link to the local news story about the fire, you can see how many firefighters were on the scene, a miracle everyone got out alive!

FYI: GoFundMe asked for a Zip Code — I put in the Chap's zip in Arlington, not my own. I'm in Plano, TX if anyone's wondering.
