Hello friends and family,
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts to inform you that our mom, Chanthou Jenny Sorn, the light in our lives, has passed away on January 12, 2022. She was 52 years old.
On behalf of our dad, we are sharing our parents' story and asking for help.
All proceeds will go toward funeral expenses for our loving Mom and the recovery of our resilient Dad.
---
On December 19, 2021 our dad fell ill and was admitted to the hospital. Shortly after, our mom followed.
He cannot remember the weeks leading up to the day he was rushed to the emergency room and is unable to recall the last moments or words he shared with his wife of 35 years.
They worked together for as long as they have been married - 7 days a week, always alongside one another. They sacrificed precious time for their family and community. Their labor was their love. They wanted a better life for their kids, and after decades of hard work and long hours, they were ready for retirement in January of 2022. They made plans to travel and grow old together. They wanted to be able to finally spend some time with their family.
That dream was cut short.
Our father was immediately sedated when he first arrived at the ER. He was in a coma for two weeks with little hope of recovery. Miraculously, he woke up and pulled the breathing tube out of his throat.
He told us that while he was in his coma, “I always saw your mother’s face.”
Unknowingly to him, that very same day she was intubated, never to wake again.
They never got the chance to say goodbye.
-----
Our dad still has a long road of recovery ahead of him, both for his health and broken heart. He is a kind and gentle man and our mother a warm, radiant, caring soul. His will to continue fighting is fueled by the memory of his wife and love for his entire family.
It is foreign for him to ask for support as he and our mom were always ones to think of themselves last.
We appreciate you taking the time to read.
Thank you.
Please take care and hug your loved ones.
Sincerely,
The Sorn-Khat Family
