Our beloved mother, Chanthan Touch, passed away peacefully through natural causes in her sleep on Valentine's Day at 76 years old. Chanthan was a mother and sister to her surviving family. She was a free-spirited woman who loved to cook and entertain. Although authoritative when speaking with those she loved; every word spoken and every lecture given always had a meaning behind it with great intentions. Those that had the pleasure of knowing Chanthan would agree that she was a selfless lady. Chanthan was always actively engaged with various philanthropies. Philanthropies near and dear to her heart included fundraising for her Buddhist Theravada Temple and raising money for those in need in her motherland, Cambodia.
Chanthan was born and raised in Phnom Penh, Cambodia and relocated to the United States after the Khmer Rouge regime. Chanthan and her husband settled in the Philadelphia area, where they raised their two daughters. Chanthan was preceded in death by her husband Kan Bou and is survived by her daughters Anna Srey Chan and Lyda Sros Kan. Chanthan was a great mother and had a close relationship with her children. Chanthan was entirely independent and loved to stay active; she would join her daughters in social events and travel to visit family often.
This GoFundMe was created to assist with funeral expenses and the traditional Buddhist ceremony. Any additional proceeds from the GoFundMe will be donated to the various philanthropies that Chanthan is associated with. The viewing and funeral services will be held at Preah Buddha Rangsey Temple on February 26, 2021, and Sunday, February 27, 2022, followed by the cremation service (TBD). With our deepest gratitude, we thank you for any amount you can contribute towards the expenses during this difficult time. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
