One of the most socially acceptable, initially harmless parts of society has ruined and even taken so many lives. Alcohol, promoted as glamorous and heavily encouraged in both of my industries (music and food), ended up hospitalizing me when my heart stopped... twice in one night.
Thanks to a dear friend who acted quickly, I'm still here for my 2 beautiful children and my family.
Fast forward three weeks. I have successfully completed a medical detox program of the highest caliber which has awakened a responsibility in me to ensure that I become the best father, brother, son, grandson and friend that you all deserve. So I can be the best employer, best musician and best man I can, I've decided to take the next step. The program I just completed, invaluable as it was, has exhausted my resources.
I started by saying I would make no excuses. I know I have a choice to drink or not to, but I also know that I am going to need to complete a successful treatment and rehabilitation program in order to make that right decision each day for the rest of my life. I must pay for this and complete the program while helping to support my children, continued life. I'm asking for help. As hard as that is. But I need to start right away.
50% of the world population consumes alcohol, 7.2% are alcoholics. There are 88 thousand deaths per year related to alcohol consumption in the U.S. alone but I'm coming home.
I'm over it!
