CLOUD - Consortium for Local Ownership and Use of Data
- is an open source software effort to rethink our broken information system, broken far beyond healthcare. To find new answers not in the complexity of current approaches but the simplicity of a new vision, a new path forward.
We've reset the #ChangeTheFight campaign goal to $100K, the level for an Sustaining Level crowd-sourced CLOUDCircle™.
__________________________________Loriana Hernandez Aldama (blood cancer survivor, former Fox7 Austin anchor, and friend) puts it this way:I meet so many cancer patients or caregivers and our fights often determine our mission and purpose. For my friend Gary Thompson, losing his wife Maureen to cancer set him on a mission to help #ChangeTheFight for all cancer patients.Gary asked — What if he could use technology to connect the data so that doctors can help us connect the dots? Why? He got tired of carrying around medical records from so many different doctors. During Maureen’s battle Gary discovered a gap in the treatment process that made the journey more difficult. He was often carrying out medical records from 9 different treatment facilities and accessing data from various patient portals to share with one doctor what the other doctor found. The stress and frustration with the system fueled Gary to look for a better solution to lessen the stress and streamline the process for not just Maureen but for ALL patients. He found his answer in an unexpected place. Rethinking the very roots of the Internet so that we are in control of our data, just like HTML allows us to build websites like Weather.com, Travelocity, or the various patient portals that made it all so complicated along Maureen's journey or any patient's journey. With CLOUD - Consortium for Local Ownership and Use of Data - new language of CTML - context markup language - we can do away with carrying around DVDs of chest scans, copies of blood work, or the myriad of medical records and streamline this process for everyone. It can lessen the stress and burden on YOU the patient and YOU the caregiver and also close gaps in medical treatment so fewer medical problems go undiagnosed or misdiagnosed. But we need your help to make it happen…Here’s where you can help fund this mission.. as well as view Gary's video about his wife Maureen for whom CLOUD was founded. He tells her story and its connection in a truly moving way.It is very powerful! Please take a look... this help can go beyond cancer patients.
Thanks Loriana... so glad we met at the record-setting Man and Woman of the Year Gala in Austin last June... your story of survivorship is powerful, and like Maureen, is the reason I do what I do and why CLOUD is so very important to bring to life!
