Change the World with Better Headphones!

I teach English at a Title 1 school in Sun Valley, NV, just north of Reno.

I'd like to purchase a (shared) class set of 30 headphones for the kids I teach. This would benefit nearly 120 kids per year for every year they last. These headphones will help the students interact with many of the programs and websites we use, including i-Ready and HMH Into Literature. Most importantly, these headphones have replaceable cables.

We have some headphones in the school, but the cables and audio jacks are a frequent point of failure, and once they break, the headphones are worthless. The time it would take to repair them is more valuable than the headphones are.

Getting these new headphones will allow the students to learn more easily with less distraction in a more sustainable way.

These are good kids, many of whom are economically disadvantaged. I believe more success and focus in school will lead to a decrease in gang involvement, fewer babies born to teens, and less substance abuse. Something as simple as working headphones might have an incredible impact.
