After an ER trip in April and more tests here at home, Chandler was diagnosed with testicular cancer. He underwent surgery in May with the hope of it removing any trace of cancer and at most undergoing 2 rounds of chemotherapy. After surgery it was determined that it had metastasized to his lymph nodes. His new diagnosis is Embryonal Carcinoma which is a form of testicular cancer. He will undergo 9 weeks of intensive chemotherapy. This form of cancer is very aggressive and can spread quickly unless attacked quickly to other parts of the body. The chemotherapy he is receiving, if it works correctly, will kill all cancer cells including any that may already by forming elsewhere. He began week 4 today.
As you might expect, this is not without added expenses. Chandler and Tina (mom) spend every other week, Monday-Friday, at Vanderbilt from 8:00-3:00. On the off weeks he's at the doctor getting blood work and tests done. Gas, food, copays, medication, etc. can add up really quickly. Chandler is unable to work due to not only the intensity of the therapy but because he is also immunocompromised. All money raised from the t-shirt sales will go towards his daily expenses and to rid this cancer from his body.
