Chance's ACL Surgery
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Dawn, and it is with a humble heart I ask for help with Chance’s ACL surgery. I told myself would never spend thousands on a dog again, but here I am!
Sunday evening, November 19th, Chance went out for his usual potty and came back limping. I initially thought he stepped on something or broke a nail but could not find anything. After consulting with his vet, and today confirming with Dr. Andersen at VCA Ballston Spa Vet Hospital, Chance has an ACL injury, and we must have surgery to repair it. He is currently on pain meds and not allowed upstairs to my bedroom, or on the couches. It’s safe to say neither of us is sleeping as sound as we did before the injury.
If you’ve had an opportunity to meet my dog, you know what a sweet, loving soul he is. You also know that he’s not a typical dog. I’ve learned since rescuing him that he suffers from agoraphobia, and bringing Chance out to public places is a challenge. We survived his appointment today, he was scared, slightly drugged, but he was a champion. I’ve chosen a Vet Hospital 35 mins from my home recommended by my vet and generally less expensive than other vet hospitals. I cannot find it in my heart to withhold the surgery, surrender him for it, and euthanizing him is not an option. I will go down every avenue, and I will do whatever I need to do for Chance. He is only five years old, and I know he has many happy years ahead of him.
Living paycheck to paycheck like most others, every cent I make has gone to my home and the bills to maintain it. I know it’s a difficult time of year financially, during the season of giving. I hate to be one more hand asking, but alas that’s the position I’m in. This donation is life changing to me and my dog.
Thank you for your consideration in helping me give Chance the opportunity to live a happy healthy life.
