Give Chance a Chance at His Best Life

My 3-legged dog Chance needs surgery to be able to walk again! :( I rescued Chance two years ago from a shelter in Washington. Four years old and he had just had surgery to removed fractured teeth, had scars all over his face, and they didn't know how he lost his leg. I took him home and named him Chance. Chance has turned out to be the sweetest, most lovable dog I could have ever asked for. His favorite activities are sleeping, snoozing, and cuddling :).  About 6 months ago, I thought Chance was having a stroke. The entire right side of his face collapsed. I took him in, and luckily it turned out to just be idiopathic facial paralysis (meaning they don't know why it happened, but it would slowly resolve itself). I am so so grateful to say he has regained the use of his facial muscles! Unfortunately, three weeks ago Chance suffered another hardship. He stopped being able to walk. He will no longer take more than a few steps at a time or put weight on his back leg. Because it's his only back leg, he can no longer get around at all. I took him in again, and X-rays showed that he has torn his ACL (the ligament in his knee). Because he's a tripod and relies on his back leg to get around, surgery with a special orthopedic surgeon who specializes in tripods is his only option. I am currently in nursing school, and I work three part-time jobs to pay my bills (personal trainer, soccer coach, and nanny). I also live in a three-story townhome, in which Chance can no longer go up or down the stairs. Right now I am carrying him up and down, as well as carrying him between bushes and trees outside to do his business. He's a 50 lb dog. The vet has told me he needs this surgery as soon as possible to prevent further damage to the knee. I have tentatively set the date for December 23, the day I am officially on winter break from school so I can take care of him after his surgery.  Chance means absolutely everything to me and it breaks my heart to see him this way. I would appreciate it so so much if any dog-lovers out there could find it in their hearts give Chance the best chance at life he could possibly have.
