Championship Winning Track Team!!!

TRACK TEAM WINS CITY FINALS!!!

 

Our track team achieved the impossible and won the first ever championship by a neighborhood school in our 23 year history in Chicago. It's hard to overstate the achievement - this means getting past 150 schools and thousands of runners to ascend to the very top. Regionals -> Super Regionals -> City Championships. It was a long journey but the kids worked insanely hard and put forth a ton of commitment to achieve this victory.

 

CITY FINAL MEET RESULTS

 -First place 4x100 boys

-First place 4x100 girls

-3rd place 100m girls

-3rd place 200m girls

-3rd place 100m boys

-1st place 200m boys

-1st place 400m boys

-Top 7 Finish in 800m boys.

Our shot putter Brandon then completed an absolute miracle shot-put throw in the last 15 minutes of the meet. With one final throw left he threw 33' 5'' inches which beat the 6th place holder by one inch. This gave us three points to secure the boy's team victory by a margin of one point. Wow!!!

WHAT DO WE NEED?

 

In order to fully celebrate the achievement, we are looking for a few final "icings" on the cake. My fellow coaches and I have spent about thousand dollars on the team so far but need to fundraise for this final victory lap:

 

1) Championship shirts & hoodies for Varsity Team (600)

2) Championship banner (125)

3) Team Victory Dinner (450)

4) Engraved Team Plaque (125)

5) Individual Trophies for our Awards Ceremony (Football and Basketball also won Conference Championships) (250)

6) Track Shoes, 480 (480, already purchased)

7) Performance Shirts and Sleeves, (350, already purchased)

8) Snacks, Drinks, Physical Therapy equipment (400, already purchased)

9) Team Gifts (any excess funds will cover shoe & apparel gifts directly to

runners in need)
10) USA Track and Field Memberships (40 each for youth runners) if we have runners who can commit to summer running camps!

 

We need to fundraise approximately 1500+ to make this all happen and hopefully cover past expenses! ***UPDATE*** We just got an update that an organization is going to double our donation to allow us to cover our entire upcoming athletic programming for football, soccer and basketball too ***Fingers crossed*** Note: Individual donations still be going to support track team first.

 

We also have a fairly large varsity team - 15 runners! We are planning to set them up with USATF to train over the summer and at their high schools next year.
