Champine Family lost home fund
Don protégé
Julia Champine moved to California 6 years ago from Corpus Christi to start her life in the beautiful mountains of Berry Creek. Renting her grandmother guest house she climbed the ladder at her job at Build.com in Chico California. She had moved into Chico but came back to take care of her Grandmother that had fallen off her 10 foot deck last August. Julia and Her fiance Danyel adored their 12 chickens, garden, and serene life in Berry Creek. COVID forced them to work from home since February until 2021. Danyel is a full time student working toward becoming a chiropractor. They were just finishing up a complete remodel with new furniture as well. On Tuesday 9.8.2020 an evacuation order came in over their cell phones. Wild fires have become so common in this area there wasn't a major reason for alarm. Luckily they did evacuate but left the chicken, 1 cars, rv, & all their belongings but what they could grab quickly. If they had hesitated even 30 minutes we now know their lives would have been lost. Many are missing still or burned to death in the beautiful town of Berry Creek. Julia's father teaches at King high school and 2 of her 7 siblings graduated there as well. They will be returning to Corpus to start a new life in her home town. Insurance was force but only a small amount compared to what they lost. The motorcycle, RV, & car were uninsured with full coverage. Any help you can give will be truly appreciated and will be used to regain transportation, home, & belongings.
