On Saturday night, our Corgi, Chalupa, wasn't acting like herself. We knew something was wrong, so we took her to the vet to get checked out. 30 minutes later, she was getting prepped for emergency surgery. Chalupa developed Pyometra, which is a life-threatening infection that required immediate surgery to save her life. Chalupa would need to undergo the very complicated and risky surgery, and stay at the vet for a few days so her recovery could be monitored by veterinary staff. We are so grateful that we listened to our instincts and rushed Chalupa to the vet when we did! Chalupa pulled through, and the surgery was a success.
Unfortunately, between the vet stay and Chalupa’s emergency surgery, the bill that was incurred was quite substantial. If you are able to donate, we would be incredibly grateful, and it would help us tremendously. If you are unable to donate, please consider keeping Chalupa in your thoughts and prayers as she recovers!
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and consider donating! We hope you are having a wonderful New Year so far.
EDIT: Pyometra is a condition that develops in unspayed animals, and it is preventable. Please spay/neuter your pets! We are firm believers in spaying and neutering our animals, however, Chalupa also had a condition that prevented her from being spayed as a puppy, and several vets recommended that she go through a couple of heat cycles to correct the issue. Unfortunately, Chalupa developed the infection before the issue was taken care of, and she ended up having emergency surgery as a result.
