Hi! My name is Eugenie Kowal and I am the daughter of Luba Kowal. Sadly me and my Mother split up in 2010 due to living conditions. Although we were estranged, that was primarily due to the past and distance. My Mother was a smart and kind women and she has did not have it easy. I was taken away from her as her only daughter in 2010, her sister Patricia passed in 2016, her Mother passed this October 2020. She was not even given the opportunity to attend her Mother's funeral because she couldn't afford a plane ticket. Last Friday May 8th, I was informed that she passed away of a heart attack in her room. I genuinely believed stress and grieving killed her.
The Issue:
The issue is that my family did agree to pay for funeral expenses however is not willing to support my expenses of flying out to BC to gather her belongings or any other expenses. The imply is that the majority is "junk" therefore they are not willing to properly support. I don't even have any of my baby pictures. Her room also has to be cleaned and organized. She may also have a storage locker filled with other items therefore this will be somewhat of a lengthy process as I am flying out alone.
Funds:
All the funds are coming out of my own personal expenses. I have not been able to successfully find work during the pandemic due to constant stress and completing my ongoing academic studies. These funds are needed for helping me be reunited with my Mother back in BC and cease any financial worries for me. I will be in charge of the funding. I will also be showing proof of receipts and everything else to show proof. The funds are needed ASAPI understand it's a pandemic and it is a tough time for everyone financially. My mother meant the world to me and I would really appreciate anything.
Estimate Outline:
1. Plane Tickets: $200 there, $200 back = $400 in Total
2. Hotel: $80.00 x 5 nights = $400
3. Storage Locker Costs TBD: $200
( Unaware about current storage locker and the current items she has in her pace of residency) Will figure out once I arrive
TOTAL: $1000
* Any extra funding will be donated to Attira's Women's Housing where my Mother stayed for ten years*
This would really mean the world to me because my Mother suffered a lot and I believe she would have wanted me to visit her one last time. I never got the chance to say hello to her but rather a peaceful goodbye is the only thing I have left.
