A CNY baseball league for individuals with various special needs, physical handicaps and developmental delays. Challenger baseball is completely free for all participants! Due to the rising costs to operate a league of this size, we are looking for community support to keep our very special children & adults playing baseball.
Mission
Each Syracuse Challenger game consists of two innings. All players bat in their respective half of the inning (no score is kept nor are any strikes, walks or outs). Parents, coaches, family members, friends, all help out and are encouraged to assist the players with batting, fielding, running and throwing as necessary. The players are taught good sportsmanship and very basic fundamentals of the game. Every player hits, runs and scores! There is a Senior League that also plays modified rules of the game with players who can safely attend to balls that are hit into the outfield. Decisions on moving players up are based on safety and the ability to play at a higher level.

We have 6 teams for players of all abilities and 2 "Senior" teams for players who want to experience a more difficult level of play. 250+ individuals play baseball with Challenger every summer. Our players have various special needs, physical handicaps and developmental delays. The league has special needs children & adults of all ages. The purpose of the program is to allow all these wonderful individuals to enjoy the game of baseball in a relaxed setting that is supervised by coaches and parents.
