Hi,
Passing through the midpoint of my life by turning 50 (by O'Connell standards anyway!) I thought I would try and raise money for Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Ireland. Our dear brother Kilian died from related complications at a young age of 29yrs and the money I raise will be donated in order to help those who suffer, and or, towards CF research and development. (https://www.cfireland.ie/about-cf/what-is-cystic-fibrosis)
In case you didn't know, cystic fibrosis is an inherited disorder that causes severe damage to the lungs, digestive system and other organs in the body with most sufferers dying at a young age.
In support of this cause, I have called the fund raiser "Challenge me 50" (#challengeme50). Using my age as a gauge, I will accept challenges from friends and family to do a task with the theme of 50, for example;

I plan to complete, close to the anniversary of Kilian's birthday on Saturday June 4th to swim 50 lengths of a standard pool, then cycle 50km to the top of the Sierra Madrid, and finally trail run 50km along the crest of the range (la cuerda larga). https://muchamontana.com/ruta-cuerda-larga/
Other ideas from you can include something simple like 50 push-ups or holding my breath for 50sec :-)..... and no, drinking 50 pints in one sitting is somewhere I draw the line!!! In reality I would like to see my 51st birthday, not alone the 100th!!
So get creative and send me a challenge or just support mine. On completion of challenges you can donate via this platform for the well deserved charity of Cystic Fibrosis. Every 'fiver helps towards sending kids to London for critical heart and lung transplants, research and or just providing support to sufferers at home with medical aid
Many thanks in advance, you are donating to a great cause!
