Help Fight the Hotel Quarantine Fee in Court

My name is Diane Lee and I'm raising funds for legal costs to challenge the mandatory hotel quarantine fee in court.

Mandatory hotel quarantine was introduced by the Australian government in March 2020 as a public health measure in response to COVID-19. It was free for everyone returning from overseas or interstate until July 2020, at which time the government began charging $3000 per person.

It is my contention that this fee is unlawful and I wish to challenge the legality in court. This challenge will be done strategically and in stages.

This first stage is a document review and Peter Fam, an experienced human rights lawyer, will be reviewing all correspondence between the government and myself to ascertain whether I have a case. The funds I am raising are to cover my legal costs for this stage only.

The other two stages have been fully costed so further requests for help with legal costs will be done incrementally IF my lawyer believes I have a case.
