On the 31st May, our Chair, Paul Eeles, is taking on the Royal Sutton Fun Run—an 8.5-mile challenge through the streets of Sutton Coldfield.
Our goal: £200 to support Lisieux Trust
But this isn’t just about running.
It’s about coming full circle.
Paul’s connection to Lisieux Trust stretches back nearly 40 years. In 1987, he began volunteering at Lisieux House—our very first home. Between 1987 and 1995, he spent countless hours alongside residents and staff, not just supporting day-to-day life, but helping to shape something much bigger: a community built on kindness, respect, and genuine belonging.
Those early days mattered. They still do.
The values that Paul experienced back then—giving people choice, encouraging independence, and creating a place where everyone feels valued—are the same values that continue to guide Lisieux Trust today.
Since leaving his volunteering role, Paul has gone on to build a remarkable career in further education and skills. He spent 14 years as Chief Executive of a national membership body and awarding organisation charity, leading at the highest level and influencing opportunities for people across the country.
And yet, through all of that, Lisieux Trust has remained close to his heart.
Now, as Chair, Paul is once again giving his time, his energy—and this time, his legs—to support the Trust.
After embarking on a personal fitness journey, Paul has set himself the challenge of completing the Sutton Fun Run. While 8.5 miles might not sound like a full marathon, it’s still a serious test of endurance, commitment, and determination—especially when you’re pushing yourself for a cause that means so much.
But Paul is doing it for a reason.
He’s running to support the people who make Lisieux Trust what it is today—our residents and tenants, who continue to inspire us every single day with their achievements, their resilience, and their determination to live life on their own terms.
He’s running for the staff, who go above and beyond to create opportunities, build confidence, and support people to try new things—even when it feels challenging.
And he’s running to help ensure that Lisieux Trust can continue to grow, evolve, and provide outstanding support for years to come.
