Help Us To Bring Education to 500 More Children in Northern Kenya!

After a successful start with 120 children, 200 new children are eagerly waiting to attend school at our Nomadic School. We can make this possible — with your support — by building an extra classroom.

Hello Friends,

My name is Augustine Lenamoe, and I come from Marsabit, in Northern Kenya. I am committed to empowering my community through education, sustainable water solutions, and economic empowerment.

Since 2014, I’ve been an active member of the ONE WORLD Citizens (OWC) international network. Together with young change makers from over 16 countries, we develop innovative solutions for local challenges and support each other in turning ideas into reality.

With the support of OWC and generous donors like you, we’re raising funds through GoFundMe to build a new classroom for the next 200 children above.

Together, we can give these children the opportunity to learn, grow and build a brighter future. Your donation will help us to:

• Build a fully functional classroom

• A toilet

• Provide school uniform and shoes, school supplies for the new pupils and school food

• Empower the next generation of leaders in Marsabit

• And start the UBUNTU ICT lab and Sewing studio with the women

In Marsabit, most of us are living as Nomads. This means that we are moving around day by day with cattle. The milk and skins of the cattle is the source of income. During the drought seasons (which is most of the year) we have to go very far to find water and green pastures. By this way of living, 80% of our people had no access to education yet. This is what I am changing with youngsters and women from Marsabit!

ACCESS TO EDUCATION IN THE SHEPHERD SCHOOL with no one left behind.

That's why we as young people from Marsabit started our own Shepherd School, built in the UBUNTU community center that we founded with the help of the Elders of our community. By this school we were able to start education ourselves!

In the first round we decided to start with education for young women, because they are the moms of the youth that we wanted to educate in the Shepherd school too.

By education on Maths and English, the women were able to earn more money while selling the milk and skins on the market! Amazing that this could be done already after the first education course in our own Shepherd School.

After this success we started the 2nd round: 120 children came to school!

Now, after the successful start of education of the first 100 pupils, another 140 children are eagerly waiting to go to school. We make this possible by building an extra classroom!
