In Loving Memory of Chaing Chhoeun
A love lost…
It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the loss of my father Chaing Chhoeun.
On August 28th, my father was getting ready for a family event. After an hour of silence, his girlfriend and my grandmother found him lying unresponsive on the bathroom floor. Though paramedics tried their hardest to resuscitate him, he unfortunately did not make it. He was only 41 years old. With broken hearts and his cause of death still unknown, we are pushing ourselves to move forward and make service plans so we can come together and celebrate his life.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, Chaing also known as Chubb or C-Roy, leaves behind his only daughter, Malina Chhoeun, age 22. He was also a loving grandfather to 2 granddaughters, Alina, age 2 and Elly, 5 months old. He also leaves behind his mother, 3 sisters, 3 brothers, 12 nieces/nephews, and the sweetest, most loving girlfriend. It is incredibly sad to know that my father was a young, strong man who passed suddenly, unable to fulfill the role of being the best grandfather that I know he could have been.
Just 7 months ago my father, along with his parents, fell sick to the COVID-19 virus. Though he and my grandmother came out of it rather safe and sound, we unfortunately lost my grandfather. After weeks of illness, my father not only dealt with the loss of his father, but also had to struggle with the hardships of pandemic unemployment and being my grandparents’ caregiver. Since then, it seemed like he was never the same. He became more quiet and kept to himself. With his sudden, shocking death, it saddens us that we will not be able to reciprocate the same love and care that he had once given to us all…He was always so loud, loving, and joyful. Anyone that knows him, knows that his laughter was absolutely contagious. His positive presence never went unnoticed. He loved everyone and was so caring. He always made sure everyone was good and well. Always the first to say sorry when at fault, always the first to say I love you after a fight, he was never one to hold grudges. I can say that he was the best host ever, always going out of his way to make sure his friends and family were having a good time. He even welcomed the whole block to join in on our festivities. As I sit here and reminisce, I know he is so loved by everyone and will never be forgotten.
We are all devastated and were not prepared for such an unexpected loss. My father had no health issues nor did he ever complain about any kind of sickness to his family, so his death is a shock for us all. We are trying to find a way to honor his memory and give my father the services that he deserves. Any amount to help offset funeral costs would be greatly appreciated.
I want to thank all family and friends for the outpouring of love. Our family will forever be grateful to you all for the support during these difficult times. He will truly be missed.
