Chad’s Medical Fund: Battling Epilepsy
Donation protected
Chad is my husband of 19 years, and the father to our 3 amazing and beautiful daughters, Dahlia (16), Kimber (14), and Willo (11). He is our family, our friend, our confidante and the biggest supporter of all of us in all of our endeavors.
Chad was diagnosed with epilepsy at 20 years old, and for more than two decades has stood up and taken action to fight everyday to live life to the fullest, while managing his health and wellbeing and trying to overcome his disability. In the last few years, he also had to have treatment, testing, and eventually open heart surgery for a genetic heart condition that had worsened over time and required an aortic valve replacement. In true Chad fashion, he pushed himself through the healing and rehabilitation process, passing all the marks with flying colors.
Earlier this year, Chad started having complications with his epilepsy, and though working closely with his neurologist team, he has been unable to return to work due to complications with medication changes and an increase in seizure activity. Dealing with these neurological medications is complicated and takes time to assess adjustments to potential side effects, precise levels on dosing, and the right combination of treatments to find the proper balance within his treatment so that he can function independently and safely on a day to day basis.
While we are beginning to see improvements more recently, it has been several months of ups and downs, needing to be more cautious while we give treatment time to adjust and be fully effective. Chad has had to leave work on an extended medical leave, and with the Emergency Room trips and ambulance rides leading up to that, ongoing medical costs and necessary testing, as well as the decrease in income, some of the medical bills are accumulating in larger amounts right now.
It is difficult to reach out and ask for help, but the amazing and supportive community around us has encouraged us to do so as well, and helping to keep the medical bills at bay so that he can continue scheduling necessary appointments and testing is truthfully something we need help with at this point.
Any and all support and prayers are greatly appreciated, and as always, we walk in faith that there will be a way for it to work out!
