If you are reading this and know Chad, then you know what an amazing person he is. He is a hard worker, generous, kind, and fun to be around. I have known him since I was 10 years old and cannot even imagine family gatherings without him.
Unfortunately, Chad was diagnosed 5 years ago with nuetropenia. Uninsured and with existing conditions, most testing could not be done due to the expense. Care given was constant blood work to ensure his white blood cell count did not get any lower. Whenever Chad would get sick or injured (even just an everyday cold), he would have to be put on antibiotics and steroids. His recovery would take much longer than usual. Almost three weeks ago, after already fighting a cold & cough and on antibiotics, Chad got cellulitis. Cellulitis was quite common for him due to his work but this time it hit him hard & fast. The first 8 days were touch and go. Doctors were not sure if he would make it out of the hospital. My sister, Kelley, was faced with the most difficult thing she has ever had to do. She had to tell her daughters, aged 21 & 17 the seriousness of their dad's condition.
As of this update, Nov. 7, 2015, Chad has been in the hospital for 18 days. The majority of them were spent in ICU or CCU. The initial concern for doctors was dealing with the infection, but Chad has also been diagnosed with LGL Leukemia. He has already begun chemotherapy treatments but because of his infection, can not get everything needed. For those of you not familiar, chemo drugs & steroids suppress your immune system and his is already compromised and trying to fight the cellulitis.
Both Chad & Kelley are self employed and with Chad not being able to work, it will be difficult to take care of medical bills let alone everyday living expenses. Please give from your heart. Those who know him know how selfless and kind he is and how truly contagious his strength and smile have always been.
