Hi internet. On September 2nd, Chadds Ford saw a historic flood that has devastated almost all of the homes, business's, historic places and not to mention museums all within 300 yards of the Brandywine Creek. Our little town was for all intents and purposes destroyed by the remnants of Hurricane Ida. A historic flood level of 21.4ft was recorded during its peak. While our friends and neighbors try to clean and rebuild, we feel its only right to provide some relief to them. The proceeds from this page will be equitably directed to 15 or so families and small business's who live and work in the historic district of Chadds Ford on Station Way Road, Creek Road, Baltimore Pike and Fairville Road. We hope to raise funds for their insurance deductibles, hotel stays, the cost of dumpsters and clean up and the essential's they need for the next few weeks.
Most of you reading this know how special of a place Chadds Ford is. We've spent summers swimming and tubing down the Brandywine. Hiking the paths through its woods. Or ice skating behind Hanks Place in the winters. We all have had some amazing memories here. Right now, the people here need our help. If you have the means to donate, this money can be a godsend to some people who desperately need it.
With love,
your friends by the Brandywine.
