Chad's Healing Heart Fund

Chad, a well known local musician in the Comox Valley and an active community member was taken into emergency Monday, Feb. 3rd. After being told he had an infection in the mitral valve in his heart and that the infection had spread into his blood stream he was taken down to Victoria for further tests and monitored closely. The tests showed that the infection was large and had eaten away at his valve wall, so on Wednesday Feb.12th Chad underwent open heart surgery to remove the infection and replace the damaged valve. This was a highly invasive surgery and the recovery time is lengthy. He will be making daily trips to the hospital for the next 4-6 weeks to receive an on-going course of antibiotics to remove any residual infection. Chad is unable to play music (his primary means of income) or work for at least 3 months.
