It is with a heavy heart that this fundraiser is being created.
On November 5, 2023, we suffered the tragic loss of our beloved Chad Madden, who sadly passed away from a massive brain bleed. As most of you know, Chad sustained a spinal injury in March of 2012 that left him ventilator-dependent as a quadriplegic. Prior to Chad’s passing, he had been in the hospital for five months following a tragic incident involving his ventilator that left him in a coma for a week. He had overcome every obstacle within those five months of rehabilitation and was finally able to return home to marry his true love, Lydia. Chad had been home less than two months when he was rushed back to the ER with severe migraine pain. In less than 24 hours a brain bleed occurred rendering Chad unresponsive and unable to recover.
Chad's unexpected passing has left his family devastated both emotionally and financially. As Lydia mourns and comes to terms with this immense tragedy, she now faces the daunting task of shouldering the financial burden it has placed upon her and the kids. Funeral expenses, outstanding medical bills, and various other unforeseen costs have left them in a precarious position, unsure of how to move forward.
Chad was a loving husband, a father to his son Jon, a son, a brother and a bonus dad to Lydia’s two children. He was a valued member of the skydiving community, a Navy Veteran, and a cherished friend to all who knew him. His loss not only leaves a void in his family, but also in the community in which he was a part.
I am reaching out on Lydia’s behalf with the utmost humility and vulnerability in this time of need. I understand that limitations and constraints faced by individuals during the holidays, however any contribution that can be made no matter how big or small, will be greatly appreciated. Any forwards or shares of this GoFundMe would be welcomed as well.
Chad always would say a phrase before each jump. I find that it continues to echo in my head as I write this tribute and I feel moved to include it. No matter what Chad faced in his life, he always had a zest for life and every adventure that came his way. So, I think this sums it up...Time to Swoop!
Thank you for any help and assistance you can provide.
