On Thursday, March 14th, my Uncle Chad visited the ER after noticing a loss of function in his left side. A tumor was discovered in his brain and he was immediately rushed from Mt. Shasta to Mercy Medical center, Redding, CA, via ambulance where a specialist further discovered a golf ball sized tumor in his frontal lobe, creating pressure that was causing bleeding. March 15th, at 10 am he was taken into emergency surgery to remove the tumor suspected to possibly be a recurrence of melanoma which he fought once before several years ago. Ultimately this was shocking, unexpected and will be a serious physical and financial set back for some time. My uncle is in a phase of rebuilding, as he just started a new job, has no medical insurance, lost everything in the Carr Fire this last summer, and now he faces this new challenging set back.
