Cameron Henderson

Exactly two years ago I introduced you to a young man I mentor named Cameron Henderson. At that time Cameron was preparing to go to college. He was an outstanding high school student maintaining a 4.0 grade point average, being the top athlete at his school, and being an overall impressive student leader. I created a GoFundMe and my friends helped me raise $7,000 for Cameron to help with his senior class expenses and preliminary expenses for college. For that I am very grateful.

It has been two years and Cameron has been an outstanding student. He has completed three years of college work in two years and is now approaching his senior year.

From the moment he arrived at Texas A&M in Galveston
• He began working on his studies for a BA in Maritime Business.
• He was selected as the most outstanding cadet in the summer program.
• He was elected the president of the Black Student Alliance, the only African American organization on campus.
• He has served as a Peer Educator, assisting fellow students make a successful social and academic transition to college life, identify the needs of the campus and advocating on behalf of his fellow students.
• He was elected to be the Maritime Business Administration Senator/Speaker Pro Tempore and served on the Food and Dining Committee meeting with the department heads to determine how to better serve the student population.
• Then he was elected to be a Texas A&M Student Government Association Senator.
• If that wasn’t enough, he constructed and proposed the diversity officer position to the student activities and student diversity office, and it was approved. He then served as the Diversity Officer assisting in the recruitment and retention of prospective cadets.

Cameron was selected to be a member of the Texas A&M Maritime academy. The academy provides highly trained and professional U.S. Coast Guard licensed Merchant Officers for the State of Texas and the United States. Cameron’s dream and goal is to be an officer in the Coast Guard.

Cameron is well on his way to accomplishing his goals. He has done a tremendous amount of work in only two years of college. At the same time he has maintained his high-grade point average. He is obviously recognized by his peers as a leader and he continues to help others pursue their goals.

Cameron has matured into and impressive young man.

I am most proud to announce that Cameron was chosen from over 25 other top cadets to be the Commanding Officer of all the cadets at Texas A&M, Galveston. He is the first African American to hold this post in its over 60-year history. He will be a great commander.

With all of that being, said, again I am raising money to support Cameron. He will need funds for his senior year for things like a $1600 Aggie class ring and other expenses.

Without a doubt Cameron is doing everything he can do to be an outstanding Coast Guard Officer and contributing member of our society. I am asking that you make a donation and help me continue to help Cameron reach his dreams.

Any amount is acceptable, but I encourage you to be generous. This is one young man worth investing in.

If you need more information you can contact me or review the original GoFundMe. Thank you in advance for your support. Be on the lookout for the great things this young man is going to do. Remember Cameron Henderson.
