✊ The First Amendment Fund: Protecting the Voices of Veterans, Service Members & Their Families

At Combat Sexual Assault (CSA), we’ve long stood with Service Members, Veterans, and their Families as they’ve navigated some of the hardest battles of their lives. Today, as our country faces increasing political chaos and the rights of our communities come under attack, we’re stepping forward in a new way.

We are launching the First Amendment Fund — a dedicated resource to provide legal defense and support to Service Members, Veterans, and their Families who are arrested or targeted while exercising their constitutional right to free speech, protest, and dissent.

Why Now?

From sit-ins like those led by Jolly Good Ginger at Union Station to the mobilizations we’re seeing across the country, it’s clear: many in the military and veteran community are stepping up to defend democracy and hold leaders accountable.

But speaking out comes with risk. Arrests, intimidation, and legal challenges are becoming more common for those who dare to raise their voices. And without support, many will be forced to stand alone.

We take inspiration from the Epstein survivors, who endured enormous public and legal challenges yet never gave up their pursuit of justice. Like them, our military and veteran communities deserve a strong legal backstop when they take bold action to speak truth to power.

What We’re Doing

The First Amendment Fund will:

  • Cover legal fees for attorneys representing Service Members, Veterans, and Families arrested or charged while protesting or speaking out.

  • Build a network of legal support across the country to respond quickly when our community members are targeted.

  • Defend the constitutional rights of those who’ve sworn to defend the Constitution itself.

Why This Matters

Veterans and Service Members are uniquely positioned to lead in moments of national crisis. When they put their bodies and voices on the line for justice, they shouldn’t have to fear crushing legal costs.

This fund ensures that when they speak up, they will not stand alone.

How You Can Help

We are seeking your support to raise $150,000 to seed this fund. Every dollar raised will go directly toward legal defense and support for Veterans, Service Members, and their families exercising their First Amendment rights.

Donate today to stand with those who’ve already given so much for our country — and who now fight to keep it free.

Together, we can make sure their courage is met with solidarity, not silence.

Combat Sexual Assault (CSA) is a nonprofit organization that has long fought for justice and healing within the military community. With your help, we can extend that mission to ensure our voices — and our freedoms — are protected.
