Road to Recovery

Last week my sister, Joni VanRhee, suffered a large brain aneurysm while camping with family and friends. She was airlifted from a hospital in Petoskey to Spectrum Hospital in Grand Rapids where she remains in the ICU.  She has undergone many procedures, experienced many struggles, and continues the fight to make it through this! We are so thankful for the amazing medical team that is giving her the best care and for the glimpses of hope we see each day. We also appreciate everyone’s prayers, well wishes and acts of kindness during this time. This “life event” has broken our hearts!  Her grandkids miss her hugs and special times with Nana and Bapa. Her smile, corny jokes and giving heart are being missed by so many. Brian and Alyse spend their days and nights at the hospital by her bedside watching firsthand the ups and downs she faces.  Jessy, Marlee, our dad, family and friends, struggle to hear the updates and not be able to be there due to Covid restrictions.
Joni’s journey to health and healing will be a long and difficult one! Her journey will require a significant unpaid leave of absence from work, unpaid time off from work for Brian and huge medical bills. So many of you have asked how you can help.
