Hi, my name is Sabra Hinson. My boyfriend, Rob Lynch, and I recently adopted a two-month-old Dachshund that became part of our family. We named her Luna. We fell in love with her instantly. She was so happy, loving and playful when we brought her home.
We were fortunate enough to have her in our home for one week before she became ill. On the morning of Sunday 1/9/22, her condition had deteriorated to the point that we rushed her to The PARC animal hospital in Fort Worth, Texas knowing they had the reputation of providing the very best care for pets. It was then that we learned Luna had Parvovirus which can be fatal to puppies. One can only imagine the shock and disbelief we felt knowing this could possibly end her life if we didn’t make the difficult decision to start the expensive treatment as quickly as possible.
Because of her age (9 weeks) and weight (3lbs.) her little body and immune system are struggling to fight this off even with the help of the wonderful vets and staff at The PARC animal hospital in Fort Worth. She's been on IV meds since Sunday. Because she's so sick, she doesn't really want to eat so the Vet had to put in a nasogastric tube to feed her some nutrients.
She’s been hit very hard with this horrible puppy disease. We are going on night 6 of being in the hospital and while Luna is receiving the best possible care, the cost to keep fighting for her is leading us to make some tough financial decisions. We’ve exhausted all available funds and am hoping there are some pet-loving "hoomans" that can help us keep her in the hospital until she can kick this horrible virus. Once she comes home (we are staying positive) there will be lots more care to give for a while, but we want to give her a fighting chance at a wonderful, loving, Dachshund life as we can give her.
