Hello neighbors, friends, and family...Meet Oksana Voskresenska, her 10 year old daughter Adelina, and their grandmother Zina. Oksana and their family are refugees from Ukraine and arrived here in Broomfield a little over a week ago. While their uncle and aunt are able to house the family, the refugee support cutoff date to be deemed as having a "Temporary Protective Status" was March 1st so they are not eligible for resettlement agency assistance. They also are not able to receive state/federal help, so the community is all they have. They traveled 2 days by car, 17 hours on a dark train, 13 hours by bus, and over 27 hours going to 3 different countries before being able to enter the US. Oksana has a law degree and worked for the Ukrainian government but work has stopped and she wants to start working here while waiting to see if it's safe to return. Their daughter is enrolled in an Adams 12 school and, while she attends school, the family will need financial support for food, legal fees to apply for a work permit, etc., and possibly even flights back if, or when, it's safe.
