Hello everyone,
My name is Sara, and I am Troy’s one and only child.
As many of you know, my dad was diagnosed with small intestine cancer almost two years ago. Over this time, he has endured multiple harsh chemotherapy treatments that, unfortunately, did not stop the progression of his cancer.
On December 3rd, my dad underwent an exploratory procedure with the hope that the University of Michigan doctors would be able to surgically remove the tumors. Instead, our family received the most devastating news imaginable. The surgeons discovered over 100 tumors in his stomach alone, in addition to many others throughout his abdominal area. We were told that, medically speaking, he has approximately two months to live. Recently, he has decided to seek a second opinion at The City of Hope Cancer Center. We hold high hopes that they may have a suitable clinical trial or a treatment plan that can help him.
Troy is truly an inspiration. His determination and strong will to fight for his life and to be present with his family is nothing short of amazing. Every day, he continues to amaze all of us with his resilience and spirit.
We know that everything happens in God’s timing, but our hearts are completely broken. The last thing my parents should have to worry about during this time is the financial burden this illness has placed on them.
My dad has been unable to work, and my mom has not left his side. Both of their workplaces have been incredibly supportive and generous, but unfortunately, PTO can only go so far.
As a community, many of you know my dad and the kind of person he is—someone who has always been willing to help anyone in need. Now, this is the time when he and my mom need that same kindness and support.
If you are able to donate, our family would be deeply grateful. If you are not in a position to give, we truly appreciate prayers for my dad and our family as we walk through this heartbreaking time.
Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for your love, support, and prayers.
With gratitude,
Sara
